Donate: Good Night Sleep Program
Through the Good Night Sleep program, PHA helps families in the Merrimack Valley and beyond that are in need of new mattresses and crib
Since September of 2003, Project Home Again has been helping families in need get the very basics they need to live with dignity. Year after year, the need that is the hardest to satisfy is for beds. Prisoners in jails have beds to sleep on and we buy beds on which our pets sleep, but it is incomprehensible that we allow children in our greater community to sleep on the cold, hard floor.
Hardly a day goes by that we do not receive a request for a mattress and we try our best to get them for the families who need them the most. It would be wonderful to someday not have a waiting list and to not have to make the almost unbearably difficult decision as to who should receive the beds that are delivered. Because that day has not yet arrived, we will continue to try to raise enough funds to reach our goal. The Merrimack Valley Jewish Federation has sponsored the Good Night Sleep program for the last six years and has allowed us to purchase hundreds of new mattress sets for our clients.
Recently new Consumer Product Safety Commission regulations have banned cribs with movable, drop-down sides. As a result, PHA can no longer accept donations of these types of cribs. This has created a real shortage of cribs available for families who do not have funds to buy them and PHA’s supply of donated compliant cribs is zero. After speaking with the American Pediatric Association, we determined that buying pack-n-plays is a safe and affordable alternative to purchasing traditional cribs for families in need. This year, with a generous grant from Quota International, we were able to buy 40 pack-n-plays to start this new addition to the Good Night Sleep program.
With a monetary donation of just $70, you can become part of the solution and buy a twin mattress set that will raise a child off the floor and onto a cozy bed. A $40 donation will allow us to purchase a pack-n-play crib so that a baby can have a safe and comfortable place to sleep. Donations can be sent to:
